Photonic network
I want to give you an idea about one of the latest network technology in the computer network field which is Photonic network (optical network).
As we know that the regular network that supplies our house with the Internet service is depending on the electricity network. I know you may have doubt about that some network uses fiber optical cables to carry the data (Information) through the network, that absolutely true soooo why we don’t call this network that uses fiber optic cable an optical network?? This is because that that this network still uses a router or switch or repeaters that convert the optical signals to electrical pulse and process it.
Therefore, the main difference between the photonic network and the normal network (electrical network) is that the photonic network is a completely fiber network which the data transferred and processed in the optical form.
Photonic network has several advantages over the electrical network which are:
* high bandwidth
* high speed
